Name: RedraspberryLOL! Thanks for including me in the family tree of Pirates of Pensacola, Bastardess. This is the funniest family I've ever seen.
Tuesday, 24 May 2005 - 3:01 PM CDT
Name: feenxc
these were great! gnomie, by any chance, do you design ads? that box of fish sticks is so pretty, i would definitely buy them! bastardess, you've captured the true me! actually, all of us!
rdd's kid, thank you so much. that is exactly what i was visualizing when i read the phrase. let's see who can guess what it is...
kisshugs!
Tuesday, 24 May 2005 - 3:47 PM CDT
Name: labsnabysWow! What a fabulous bunch of artwork. The family tree is hilarious...great job, bastardess. Are we all wearing halos? All except for poor Sea Rover, that is...
Tuesday, 24 May 2005 - 4:47 PM CDT
Name: Gnomie
No, I don't design ads - I'm a mummy to small children, hence the need to make things pretty!
I have obviously missed my calling if you were prepared to buy fish sticks that claim to be "almost fish" just because it was a pretty box!
Tuesday, 24 May 2005 - 4:51 PM CDT
Name: Gnomie
Bastardess, I love the family tree! what a fabulous idea! You are very clever.
My only query is this: what inspired you to make me so short and round? was it the name?
Seriously, though, it's a great tree!~ And thank you for giving me a halo... although according to my dad my halo slipped many years ago and is now choking me!
Labsnabys... I'm not sure what yours is (mainly 'cos I haven't read the book) so could you please tell me?
RDD - your child is a true artist!
Gnomie :)
Tuesday, 24 May 2005 - 8:06 PM CDT
Name: BastardessYes Gnomie, it was the name. I didn't mean to imply anything, except perhaps that your personality is larger than life! Feenxc, I'm glad you felt I captured you, I aim to please! Sea Rover, I'm so so sorry I forgot your halo, but by the time I noticed, it was too late. Good eye, labs, and interesting scrim. I am thrilled that you were all amused by the tree, and forgive me if I left anyone out. I felt we all deserved a halo, even, or rather, especially, the crazy boys! Well done EVERYONE, you are my inspiration! xxB
Tuesday, 24 May 2005 - 9:02 PM CDT
Name: GnomieThat's ok B, I wasn't at all offended. Highly amused - the only time I've ever been round was when I was 8 mths preggers with twins. I thought the whole thing was fantastic!! And I'm happy to accept my halo from you!
Tuesday, 24 May 2005 - 9:48 PM CDT
Name: BastardessCool! I love your dad's theory, that's funny. I don't know why Gnomie said 'round' to me?
Tuesday, 24 May 2005 - 11:01 PM CDT
Name: labsnabysGnomie, my scrimshaw is of a sextant. Isaac produced one from his pocket in a critical moment and instructed Morgan on how to use it to escape from the mourners who were after him. Not having read the book, I'm sure you are still completely in the dark as to what all that means, but at least you know what a sextant looks like! :-)

Name: Bard
Gnomie, I love the fishsticks box.
Bastardess, The family tree is hilarious. You drew me like a walking stalk of celery.
Ducks, I am having a little trouble figuring out what those critters are, and why they seem to be munching on the bible.
Wednesday, 25 May 2005 - 11:43 AM CDT
Name: Rubber DuckieOkay. First, think of what the Bible is resting on. What is that?

I can't believe I forgot to email my shaw again.
RDD, I can't get into my email right now, so I posted a link above. Better late than never?

Name: Trillian
Labs, that is one gorgeous sextant.
Bastardess, I love the family tree! That's awesome.
I have a small screen, so forgive me if I can't see too clearly... am I holding coconuts, or do I have really big boobs?
Wednesday, 25 May 2005 - 2:22 PM CDT

Whichever you prefer Trillian, f_cT if I know, though yours is one of my favourites.
Bard, I don't have a sense of you yet, hence the celery head, is that wrong?
Wednesday, 25 May 2005 - 4:04 PM CDT
Name: feenxc
oooh, trillian, that one is so good. i can picture morgan falling down the sail, right after isaac kicked him out of the nest, which was my favorite quote from these chapters! (see how i turned it around and made it all about me? sorry, just in that kind of mood)
kisshugs!
Wednesday, 25 May 2005 - 7:17 PM CDT
Name: BardIt looks like the Bible is on some sort of bookstand or a pulpit.
Wednesday, 25 May 2005 - 7:29 PM CDT
Name: BardNot wrong at all. It was just an observation. Anything goes in interpretive scrimshawing.
Wednesday, 25 May 2005 - 8:30 PM CDT
Name: Rubber DuckieYou would be very close. It starts with a P and in the book it is described as drawn above. I'll give you 'til tomorrow, then I'll share the answer.

Podium?
I'll have to review that scene, though, 'cause I have no idea what the hungry critters are.
Wednesday, 25 May 2005 - 10:11 PM CDT
Name: Trillian
LOL! Why thank you, darlin. I had visions of drawing a shadow of a screaming Morgan behind the sail.
However, I quickly realized my limitation in that attempt.
kisshugs right back at ya.

Probably 'cos Gnomes are short and fat (although i do draw the line at the beard!)
Either that or you're psychic and knew that I'm about to get round all over again due to being preggers again. (I only found out this morning and I have a while to go before being round - not due til Jan/Feb next year.)
As for Dad's theory... it does get worse and ruder - he once told me that my halo was around my ankles with my knickers. (He was joking around at the time - I think).
Wednesday, 25 May 2005 - 11:09 PM CDT
Name: GnomieWell, when I do finally get to read the book, I will know what the sextant looks like. Thank you for explaining it to me.
Wednesday, 25 May 2005 - 11:20 PM CDT
Name: labsnabysOh, wow! Congratulations, Gnomie -- what exciting news!
Thursday, 26 May 2005 - 4:58 AM CDT
Name: GnomieThank you labs. We are excited, it was intentional. We're hoping for a girl this time as we already have three boys - either way it's the final bub for us. I'm just hoping for a single bub and not another set of twins. But either way we'll cope and be fine.
Thursday, 26 May 2005 - 1:08 PM CDT
Name: Rubber DuckieCongrats Gnomie! One can never have too many Gnomes...

Thursday, 26 May 2005 - 1:17 PM CDT

wow, gnomie! that is such wonderful news. my kid is working on my 3rd grandchild right now, due in november. i've got 2 grandgirls, so we're hoping for the boy this time, cause it will be her last also. he says it's another girl, that that is all his family has, but i'm not usually wrong about these things and i say it's a boy. she had one sonogram, but it turns out it was too soon, so can't tell the sex yet, but did get the due date pushed back 3 weeks. when i saw that pic, i had 2 thoughts, one being that this was my next grandbaby (i cried) and the other that that was one big head she would have to push out! see, my mind just ain't normal.
congrats! and the biggest kisshug ever!

I'm an only child so the only grandbabies my mum has are my boys, but my mother-in-law has seven (with another two marrying into the family soon) plus this one. And out of all the grandkids there's only one girl. So we need to balance out all that testosterone with a few female hormones.
I don't think that's an abnormal thought at all feenxc - it's completely normal for women to think in terms of having to push the child out. I'm hoping not to have a huge one this time. (the twins were 6 & 7 pounds and my hubby was a 13 pound baby by himself - although I was only 3 pound 9 ounces so hopefully that will balance it all out for me!)
I'm pretty good at telling what everyone else is having (I've only ever been wrong once) but I was adamant that the twins were girls. I have a theory though, each of the other pregnancies I had girls' names picked and this time I already have a boy's name and undecided for a girl. Plus my hubby was sure the twins were boys and he thinks it's a girl this time. (My mother said I'd either have one girl or three boys - first pregnancy 1 boy, second pregnancy 2 boys....) I'm having a scan next month to check how many bubs are in there, but I think it's only one 'cos I haven't been very sick with morning sickness and it was horrendous with the twins.
Thankyou for your congrats and same to you and your girl... (btw - how can you girl's man say that his family only has girls... he's male isn't he???)
Kisshugs back to you!
Thursday, 26 May 2005 - 4:39 PM CDT

Then it's about time there was some testosterone introduced. Although I'd say that all the grand-daughters were karmic rewards for all the years of testosterone his mother had to deal with!

Congratulations, Gnomie! That's wonderful news. Consider yourself hugged!
My sister is due in about two months, their first and it's supposed to be a girl, but the baby wasn't cooperating for the sonogram so they couldn't get a real clear shot.
By the way, if you do develop morning sickness, this stuff really helped my sis- http://www.gingerpeople.com/index.html
Helped me with my medication induced nausea, too. I don't know if it's available over in your neck of the woods, though.
Friday, 27 May 2005 - 9:52 AM CDT
Name: Trillian"Weather gnawed podium"- cloud, lightning and sun- that is fantastic! Tell your kid I think that's the best one yet.

Thanks for that... I'll look into it. We actually have a ginger factory in our town and they make a ginger refresher syrup to go in water/soday water/tea/coffee etc so I am going to get myself some. I bought some for a friend who was pregnant and she found it helped a lot.
So far no major morning sickness, just a little queasiness, which is an improvement on both previous pregnancies - so fingers crossed it stays that way.
Congrats to your sister. My first child kept turning his back for every ultrasound so I didn't find out until the day I went into labour that he was a boy. It's nice to have a surprise though. (They kept telling me the twins were boys but I didn't believe them so it was a surprise when they were born.)

hi gang, it's me again, using this site to talk things out. i'm not sure how many of you have been around long enough to remember the story i told last thanksgiving, about my family and holidays. if it's still there, check it out. to keep it short, my family spends holidays in hospitals. we experience tragedies, deaths, accidents, always on a holiday. i had thought this one was safe, my father died on memorial day...but i was wrong.
my mother and sister have been in poland for the last two weeks. i thought they were coming home tomorrow, so was surprised when my sister called earlier to say they were home... and on the way to the local emergency room. while taking a tour of a salt mine, as they were walking out, my mother tripped on the curb and broke her ankle. normally not really a big deal, except for her age, diabetes, being on cumadin, and other age-related health problems. but they were in poland! you should see the xray, it's barely readable. they put this huge cast on her, way too tight and must have weighed 20 pounds. then they sent her on her way, with no crutches. they didn't have any to give her. the airport had no wheelchair and a flight of steps to get onto the plane. she had to sit on her butt and inch her way up the steps just to board.
so i met them at the hospital. at first, the doctors were treating it lightly, thinking she just wanted the heavy cast off. but after the hour it took to remove it, and the huge blister that was revealed under it and all the swelling, they had to admit she had done the right thing. they put this huge cottony soft cast on her and she goes to an orthopedic later in the week.
this is my typical holiday. even the grandgirls seem to be used to it, it was not upsetting to them at all. the whole family showed up, had pizza in the waiting room. when i told mom that her children and loved ones were having a pizza party, her only comment was that she wasn't at all surprised.
thanks for "listening", hopefully i won't have too many more of these stories to tell. frankly, i'm getting a little tired and really wish this curse would be lifted.
kisshugs

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. I hope she's going to be okay? (what holiday did all this occur on? we have different holidays here.)
That sounds like an awful way to spend the holidays, but at least it didn't upset your grandgirls. (Although, that in itself may be a separate problem.)
Maybe you can get a psychic to do an aura cleansing of your entire family and lift this 'curse' for you? Sometimes it gets to the point where a run of bad luck becomes the expectation and then becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy. If you're not into psychics then maybe could get your entire family together to focus on a happy injury free holiday for the next holidays.
I'll try and send positive vibes and thoughts your way!
Big kisshugs to you and your family... sounds like you could use them!

Your age is your ruled by your physical state of being, but being OLD is a state of mind.
My Dad always told me: You're only as old as the person you feel (needless to say I married a man younger than me! hehehe)
It takes time, but tell your mom that while she may not like the walker, it's a temporary thing, and soon enough it will just be a walking stick, and then she'll be as good as gold again soon after. Recovery is 98% positive thinking! If she believes that she'll be better faster, then she will be!
Kisshugs to you and your family.
If you're bored and wish to chat at all, just email me. I'm checking in daily too, but I do check my emails more regularly than that!

I've figured it out. It's a conspiracy. If we never finish the book, RD doesn't have to pick a winner, and nobody gets the prize.
Obviously.
(consider yourself hugged, RD. We'll still be here when you get back.)
In the meantime, if ya'll are bored, come check out the "Naked Cowboy" in Times Square pictures on my blog. Don't worry, there's a strategically placed guitar...

You would be correct. It was terribly rude of me. I had been intermittently checking for comments, but nothing of note. I apparently zoned out and didn't realize you all were looking for me.
It's summertime, which means baseball every night and the kids home all day, plus the do-it-yourself projects I've got going. I just haven't had time and I really don't know when I will. If any of you are willing to take turns and do the weekly questionnaires, etc., please step forward. I will be happy to put them up and continue that way. Otherwise, it will be a rather long hiatus.

I would never be able to come up with questions as clever as yours, but yeah, sure, I'd be willing to give it a try. Assign me some chapters and I'll come up with some sort of questions.
