I am sure this has been asked and discussed many times and I am obviously out of touch, but here goes....

Where is the original Rance? Where are Rance's blog postings?

Thursday, 12 May 2005 - 1:35 PM CDT

Name: Trillian
Home Page:

2.- Best boss I ever had, and I was self employed for years.

3.- Rose flavored candies. Lovely.

4. Most of my recurring dreams are fairly horrifying.

5- Sharing my deepest fears with strangers. That, and anything that hinders my ability to breathe

6- An advertising exec who manages to twist facts, leave out details, and generally lie so as to "put a positive spin on things."
Alternatively, A large triangular sail set on a spar that swings out opposite the mainsail, used on yachts when running before the wind.

7-Out of the frying pan, into the fire

8-Only the pretty ones

Rance who???

Name: Rubber Duckie

I'd just like to know how you managed to make it through the line...

1. You haven't used the one I sent yet, so can that one be this week's?

2. I can't say too much about my boss... he's my husband!

3. Cleaning my teeth is a good start, but lolly version, I like KoolMints or those powdery mint lollies, sometimes a chewing gum.

4. I keep dreaming of pregnancies... and also of winning a huge amount of money and going on a big spending spree in the jewellery shops ;)

5. My biggest fear is that someone will hurt my babies and I won't be able to protect them.

6. A sail used in sailing.

7. I don't know what situation Herb is in but I'll give it a go... A life of sayings has little doings.

8. Yes ships are always she... because if they were male then the men might find them intimidating.

9. Haven't read any to tell you...

10. I do now!

11. I'd love to but it's too far away from my seclusion on this isolated island so will have to give it a miss.

I am really really really really looking forward to eventually reading this book - just going on the conversation topics! It sounds intriguing!!!

"A life of sayings has little doings"....oh, that's good. That's really good. Keith shoulda used that one in the book!

Okay, Rubber Duckie's a little touchy on this subject, since as you say, it has been discussed many times. Where you been, moonrocks?

Anyway, Rance moved on to greener pastures and turned the keys to this here blog over to Rubber Duckie some time last year. First he mostly moved to a "guest bloggist" format about a year ago, and then last September promoted RDD to Associate Rance. He's hardly been heard from since. Looks like the old posts have been removed from Tripod too. Oh, well.

Why am I explaining this? Nothing better to do, I guess, and just trying to be polite.

Not touchy...just delirious.

I'm the boss mate, so it can be pretty annoying, as I'm sure you can imagine. I relieve myself of this stress more often than not with my favorite breath freshener, cigarettes. My favorite recurring dream has me swimming and flying in the most colorful worlds imaginable, I think they ARE true. Though embarassing to admit, I'm petrified of intimacy. Another word for spinnaker: airfoil. Don't worry Herb, even a blind pig in a blizzard finds an acorn once in a while. Ships are always a she because if ships were a he they wouldn't be sheworthy. "...rowed like divils, toward the virgin shore." aint bad. Didn't know about Palm Island story. Yes! Never ever been to Disney World, a field trip with you folks sounds like a gas. But I'll only go if Keith and RDD dress as Bolidar and Rackam in their tourist get-up!

This was before I read about the 103 fever...sorry!

He couldn't have... I just made it up! But he's welcome to it for his next book.

3. Orbit Wintermint gum
4. No, but I used to have one as a child that the characters from the Wizard of Oz were chasing me around the neighborhood. I fought them off with my styrofoam surfboard.
5. getting cancer
6. It is a large, billowy sail that is hoisted in front of the jib to catch extra wind.
7. If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned.
8. Yes, but I have no idea why
9. "Aye, an' vengeance shall be ours!"
10. Yes, I read that on the booksay blog
11. Sure! I haven't been in 18 years, so I'm due.

So apparently keith said something about a format to analyze theeeee book, so i'm womdering if he, and we, tend to over write, Any thoughtsa??

Saturday, 14 May 2005 - 5:50 AM CDT

Name: Gnomie

What do you mean over write? Is that a forum version of talking too much? If so, then no we don't! We're having conversations of interest to us, and no-one who is uninterested is being forced to read them!

Besides, if Keith didn't write so much, what would we all be having these chats about??????

What format is being thought of? I like the current one, as I'm able to participate without being able to get a copy of the book just yet. (It hasn't been released on the isolated island that I call home! And all this chatting has made me desperate to read a book I probably wouldn't have given a second thought to otherwise - sorry Keith.)

Gnomie :)

I think you misunderstood Gnomie, or maybe I wasn't clear. I was talking about the sentences in the book, how he uses language, can he ever be too descriptive, stuff like that...not a criticism of you, him or this. Just trying to make when ARE you getting the book?

i'm back, finally. moved, almost done unpacking, haven't pulled out all my hair yet... but it was close. was supposed to start the move at 8 am, started at 6 pm, finished at midnight. was supposed to be online yesterday, but the idiots who work there don't ask the right questions, so had to wait til my puter nerd could fix me up with a new cpu.

haven't had a chance to catch up with you guys, will over the next few days. but i'm upset and worried about you and your illness, rdd. i do hope you're better!

will write more after i get caught up with my email accounts. checked the primary one last week, had 842 emails, cut it down below 100, but this week i'm back up to 1100. don't think i'm sleeping tonite.

i missed you people so much and am really pissed at that bucket thingie... there are all these shaws i can't see!

see you later

great big bunches of kisshugs to make up for the ones we missed

Oh, okay. Sorry if I sounded like I took umbrage at your comment, I was trying to clarify your meaning. But now that I know what you meant...

I don't think you can be too descriptive... that's the beauty of a book - the more descriptive you are the more it comes to life in the imagination of the reader. And the best bit is: it's different in everyone's mind.

As for when I can get the book...??? It's usually anywhere from a few months to a year before they release US released books over here. (By the time we get them they're already "#1 best seller" etc.) I'm going to have to ask my local bookshop when they will be able to get it. I am just so deprived - literally, anyway.

Make conversation more... I like it!

WELCOME BACK FEENXC!!!! We've missed your kisshugs!!!

You have my sympathy on the moving - I hate moving. I'm a hoarder, so it's always a big drama for me to move. And I've still got boxes that I haven't unpacked from my last move (three and a half years ago - but in my defence, I did fall pregnant with twins within a few weeks of moving and am only just recovering a semblance of normality now! They'll be two in July.)

RDD has a new version to use for shaws... so you'll get to see more. (If you ask nicely maybe she'll be able to email you the ones that you missed???? - once you have your account tamed and under control of course!!!)

Kisshugs back to you (of course!)

feenxc, welcome back! Either you have a LOT of friends, or else you are on every spam list in the world. 1100 e-mails! I think I would crawl under the covers and never come out.

welp, i do get a bunch of spam, but i'm on every survey list out there, which brings in a little xtra income and free products to test. plus i am a freebie junkie, always signing up for free samples. this gets me on strange lists, which i'm too lazy to unsubscibe from. every now and then, i go thru them, but then i sign up for more stuff and the cycle goes on. oh yeah, my new mailperson is thrilled with all the junk i get. my mailbox is seldom empty. see what happens when you get old? it doesn't take much to provide a little excitement.

thanks gnomie, for the sympathy. i seem to constantly acquire stuff also. every time i move, i throw things away, but the pile never seems to get smaller. i think some of it is breeding.

that's a great idea, to have rdd email the shaws i missed... i'll wait til she's better tho. good luck with the twins, my daughter's working on baby #3, and has all my sympathy. i only raised one, can't figure out how you all cope!

long overdue kisshugs!

not only is everything impossible to find, but a LOT went where it truly belonged... in the trash! months down the line, i'll forget i threw it away and go crazy trying to find it. it's funny, but i've actually set myself up for a future senile moment.

kisshugs and i hope you're feeling better. didn't mean to make you worry, but couldn't get a lot of time on the other puter. i missed you!
