Rance wuz here...
Tuesday, 10 May 2005
In case you haven't noticed, some of the pictures are no longer visibile. I received an email this morning from photobucket advising me I had exceeded my bandwidth and as punishment for such, they are disabling direct linkage on my account for a month, unless I want to upgrade and pay for a "premium" account, which I am not going to do. So, needless to say, unless some of you out there have any ideas, I really have no clue how to continue, being as I cannot put up any new scrimshaws. Any suggestions?

What does that mean? And why is it only a problem now, they've been up for 5 days? Bunch o thieves. Would removing some of the older scrims help? Please continue with chapters 11, 12 and 13, a solution will be found. Scrimshaws can always be posted on another site until time has been served?

There's plenty of other free photo hosting sites. I like
Use one free account 'til it's full, then move on to the next.
You might want to set up a free mail account specially for the siging up for these, though, as you'll be pretty likely to be added to some new spam lists.

This is tragic!!! Unfortunately I am not a web savvy person and can not offer any advice. If there is no other solution, I vote for deleting the older images. But none of Flarq's, please.

I can still see them...did you already fix the problem, or am I on some kind of delay...?

follow JC's advice, but stick with flickr. i used imageshack for a while, and the servers were pretty spotty.

flickr (free acct) does impose an monthly *upload* bandwidth limit, but their tools are great and servers are pretty reliable. Even better: No download or storage limits. I doubt that the upload limit would be too much of a problem, though, unless you were uploading huge pix.

Thanks to all for the input. I will check out flickr and see if I can get it up that way. Again, thanks to all. I will let you know what I find out.

Other matters have taken up my attention in recent months. I'm here to deliver one simple message. I'm back.

It's so good to see you, I mean, read you. I've been wondering where you've been.

you know what i find odd? the coincidental use of 5 e's at then end of one's name.

I borrowed it from a co-worker that signed e mails with trailing eeeee's. However I think it looks better on my name.

6 is too many, 4 not enough. 5's just right.....

Saving lives, getting lots of private time with my gf. Indoor Soccer, Softball, more SAR training, promotion to deputy commander, and up for ES officer of the year for the state.

Launching 2 new websites, 12 hours days, vacation in San Diego, etc.

Yeah, wow it's been a busy start to '05. Hows the site coming along, what's new??

Wow, Mikeeeee, it does sound like a busy start to 05 for you! Congrats on your promotion and nomination for award!

Rubber Duckie still hasn't finished her story "The Smell of Fear", but is currently running a book club reading 'Pirates of Pensacola' and discussing it in the forum. I haven't read the book yet (can't get it on my isolated island!) but it's still fairly easy to follow and contribute to the discussion topics.

Anyways, Welcome Back.

I'm busted. Mikeeeee and I are actually one and the same. Hasn't anyone ever told you there's no such thing as a coincidence? (<'

Ahhh SoF... Hey isn't that the story where we added pieces to it one at a time... I made up a jogger and a twin to the psycho that wore suade shoes? That was fun lol.

Good to be back, now to try to say current after I catch up...

RDD, I figured out what happened. Obviously, the PTB at photobucket were reading TSoF, and grew frustrated at lack of closure to the freakin story.

If you'll just be so kind as to tell us all whodunit, your bandwidth will be restored, and you'll be able to post pics to your hearts content.

No, really.

No, TSOF is a completely true story of how RDD and her friend helped track a serial killer via internet sleuthing... and she got right to the good bit where we find out who did it and how they caught them, and then stopped writing the story. So there's a lot of literally frustrated people out there who love a good murder mystery and have been left dangling.

But we still love her and live in hope that we'll get the rest of the story .... someday. (It's actually a good marketing ploy because none of us are game to stop checking in!)
