The Book Club
Now that Wendyjo has her book it's time to begin. Our first session will be Thursday, April 13th. I intend to do it chapter by chapter, with an open forum discussion, including questions for the author. At present, there are no rules. Pretty much anything goes. The only request is that you limit your questions to the present day's discussion, i.e. Chapter 1 or whatever.

Simple enough. Right? Now get to reading.

The Book? Of course! The Book!

Pirates of Pensacola

If you don't have it, get it. You can order it online at Amazon.com or Barnes & Noble or buy it at your local bookstore.

Please read Chapters 1 AND 2 for Thursday, just in case.

See you then.

All ideas, suggestions, and input are welcome as to how we conduct ourselves in the future. You can email them to me at rubberdeeduckie@yahoo.com. For now, as waxwing might say, we'll "wing it".

Speaking of Pirates:

I just read that one of the "musicians" from Korn named his son, Pirate.

Unfortunately I cannot buy the book, for personal reasons and because now that driving a car has become so expensive, I'll never get to read again. It's a giant ploy by the government to make us all ignorant and stupid, like them.

Somewhere deep within the deepest depths of a darkingly dank government janitorial closet:

"If they have to spend all their money on gasoline, they'll never read a book again. And, if we allow drug companies to keep shamefully raising prescription drug costs they'll...shoot, they'll all move to Canada..better rethink this..."

"Shh, keep your voice down or the janitor might hear you, and I've heard him say that he has a Ph.D in entomology."

"What the hell is entomology?"

"I don't know, but it sounds like it's something smart people know about. I even heard him say 'discombobulate' once."

"Man, that is a strange word, I wonder who this Bob fellow is. If he's so smart why's he a janitor?

"Because he had to commute thirty minutes to work and only had an SUV, and his uninsured mom needed five hundred dollars worth of prescription drugs every month."

"Hmmmmmm, I don't understand a word you just said. Hey, let's blow off work and go egg Rumsfield's car!"

"Cool! I've been meaning to get back at him for putting plastic over my toilet seat."

Go check it out at the library then. And if your library doesn't have it, ask them to get it....

And what happens with the rest of the story? Is Art going to finish it or is just never going to be completed? At least write the ending! What happened to you RDD? Are you okay?

I'm okay, Roberta. Thanks for asking. The story will be finished.

Rubber Duckie... welcome back! How long has the book been available? I'll check with my local bookstores, but it may not have been released here, as we don't usually get books from the US until well after they've been made into movies (just kidding) - but, seriously, they do delay the release over here.

I will just read the discussions with interest.

Thanks Gnomie. It was released April 1st. I wish you weren't secluded on the island, but hey, that sorta makes you a pirate yourself.

Sorry for the double post... my mouse seems a little jumpy today - must be the cat lurking around the computer desk that's done it!

Posting late at night here (insomnia)

Glad you're back Duckie! Hope you are safe and well. I will see if I can get my hands on the book, but I have a feeling it may not have been released on my side of the border.

Will do my best to find the book.
In the mean time, peruse, if you care to, for your a-muse-ment:

http://www.orientaltrading.com:80/otcweb/application?namespace=browse&origin=home.jsp&event=link.externalProductItemDetails&sku=16/733

if URL is not highlighted, then you must copy the entire link and paste it into your URL line or Browser.

amuserato, that is a classic! How did you find this? I must say, every time I wipe off my son's Elmo alphabet placemat, I crack up at the rubber duckie that represents the letter "R"...

labsnabys,

What can I say? While waiting for the laptop to boot up this morning, I flipped open a catalog and landed on the very page... Just a funny coincidence no doubt, but it sure felt like a strange convergence of lay lines!

cheers!

That's very funny, no doubt. But if you'll notice, they spelled my name wrong...it's IE, DuckIE. No biggee though. I'm used to it now...
