I would love to help....but I'm so sadly broke. :( it's all I can do to keep from maxing out my credit card to travel down to Charlotte this weekend to watch my beloved Duke Blue Devils and the not-so-much liked Carolina Tar Heels play this weekend. *sigh* but, should I win a few bucks in my NCAA Tournament pool, I'll gladly do what I can to get a few dollars sent off. as a film buff, I should really be more supportive of such artistic efforts.

LOL I clicked on that...a pop up comes up with links...seems they are selling Rance..some links claim they have Rance cheap...and all this time I was so sure that Rance that would be expensive. What a let down. I didn't actaully check any links...

Ms. Lauren,

You're such a trooper. Don't worry about it. As to your "beloved" Blue Devils, I must say, I may have to hold that against you. I overlooked your love for the Yankees as opposed to the Cardinals, but Duke? Gag me with a spoon.

Okay... so here's the thing. If I put down a book for a while, I start to not care. I'm starting to not care, RDD. Please carry on before I forget where you're at. And please don't say I can always go back and read it all again, as I can deal with the amount of loser I am coming here to read this stuff, but not with the amount of loser I'd be if I spent the time to read it twice.

Thursday, 17 March 2005 - 4:42 PM CST

Name: Gnomie

Marina, you're not a loser for reading such an insightful and intelligent story regardless of whether it's in print or on a website. With that attitude to things (ie that you can handling being a 'loser' to a particular degree, when you shouldn't be considering anything you enjoy as a loss) you must be missing out on a great deal in your life! You could always try printing out each post of the story as it goes up so that you can re-read it at your leisure... away from the computer!

Rubber Duckie, I love your writing, and can't wait to see more of it, but I understand that you ARE entitled to your own life as well. Hope everything is ok!

Apparently, this blog is here only to service Marina. How silly of us all. How dare Rubber Duckie discuss or delve into anything other than that which pleases Marina.

Okay, so I admit that I want what I want when I want it. Nothing wrong with that. What I don't understand is why I have so much trouble getting everyone else to cooperate!

Well if you guys want to help fight MS this group is needing some backing.

Be sure to read Kwips rant too its sad and funny and couragous. He would make a good guest writer sometime maybe.

Hey, if you guys want, I'll finish Rubber Duckie's story for you. You may think it strange though when all the characters start drooling and flailing about like, how should I put this, monkeys.

Rubber Duckie's "character" will suddenly get caught under cover stripping at the local club in order to catch the killer at his leisure time, only she will get caught up in the glamourous music and chic surroundings. She will be unable to stop and to her unending stripper sadness, her husband leave her for Marty.

Yes, the story will end like a bad soap opera, with someone being kidnapped, someone being drugged, and someone putting their penis between their legs ala "Silence of the Lambs".

So, if anyone wants to hear what happens. Just let me know.

All likenesses to people living or dead are an accident and were concocted under some serious wild turkey useage.

Monkeyman,

It's obvious you just got in from celebrating St. Patrick's Day :)

... based on my limited observations of Duckie she definately has more character then to dance on a bar~ personally i would guess that she and marty were really on to something and the feds stepped in and asked them to go undercover.. which would explain her obvious absense from the blog.

OR... she just likes to leave us hanging. You never know. But stripper, that's a stretch.

You may want to take a another swig of yer gin and clear your head~ Cracker :)

Somehow I think that Rubber Duckie has been involved with a completely separate adventure lately. After all, she did tell us that this story occurred a while ago and had already reached its conclusion! And she's been working so hard at this blog that she deserves a little holiday every now and then to deal with her own real-life.

I'm sure that whatever has been keeping her from us must be extremely important because she wouldn't keep us hanging on purpose. She's too nice to do that.

While we're all waiting for RDD to return, why doesn't everyone write in here and give her some support by telling RDD what a great job she's been doing and how much you appreciate what she's done so far. If people keep complaining at her while she's away, why would she want to come back????

We love you RDD... come back soon!

*sigh* another hater. it's okay....I'm used to it by now. in my sports life I have two great loves, Penn State and Duke. everything else comes second. in fact, the man who I marry has to propose by presenting me with two tickets to the Duke/Carolina game at Duke. I don't want a huge diamond ring, I want two tickets to see Duke squash Carolina at Duke (and neither ticket is for my future husband either). in fact, last year when Coach K was considering the job with the Lakers I lost all interest in baseball because the thought of losing our Coach was seriously the most devastating thing that could ever happen to Duke. and around about that time, the Yankees and the Red Sox were playing and I could've cared less. in fact, I was in such a depression over the July 4th holiday that I could hardly do anything other than wallow in agony.

in my life it's Penn State football and Duke men's basketball. *everything* else comes second. hold it against me if you must, but it's how it is, and who I am. I am a Duke fan until the day I die. I love Duke. I love Coach K. I love JJ Redick, Daniel Ewing, Shane Battier, Grant Hill, Christian Laettner, Wojo, Elton Brand, Jeff Capel, Chris Carrawell, Jason Williams, Trajan Langdon, Will Avery... shall I continue? ;)

I think only RDD can do that, superfreak.

And I'm sure she'll be back soon. If not, then I'm sure she'll pass the relevent requirements to a person of her choice to take over for a bit. (I'm betting on Bubba or feenxc here.)

Let's all sing to her (to the tune of Ernie's Rubber Duckie on Sesame Street)...

hi there everybody! do you miss rdd as much as i do? well, she said she would be back soon, so in the meantime, let's entertain ourselves. it's not thursday yet, but i have an idea for a topic. i like to call it "i guess you just had to be there". i'll start off...

last week i was watching my grandgirls for a few hours. i asked them how they felt about having a new baby brother or sister. the reaction was total indifference. until mommy's belly gets bigger, i don't think they understand. but they know that a big belly means there's a baby swimming around in there (their words). so i asked the oldest what she thought the baby should be named. she said "luloh or tasha", or if it was a boy "pablo". after questioning her further, i found out she meant lilu from the cartoon, or tasha, after a dog her mom used to have. and pablo came from the backyard... i guess his mom is always calling for him or yelling at him. so if she has her way, my next grankid will be named after a cartoon or a dog or the little neighbor boy. i was hysterical by the time she finished explaining all this to me.

i guess you just had to be there...

do you have a funny story to tell? at least it was funny when it happened kinda story? join me, tell us, as you can see, it doesn't have to be funny now, just then. help entertain us (me).

kisshugs!

A friend once told me that when she tells a story and the it isn't getting the reaction she thinks it should, she adds "and then I found ten dollars" to the end of the it. I've started doing it too. In fact, I think that it's spreading throughout my circle of friends.

But I don't recommend it when you're talking to your boss:

"I faxed that important document stating that your client is innocent over to the Courthouse, they haven't replied back yet. Unfortunately I'm sure that he'll probably get the death penalty, but I did find ten dollars!"

Or in the heat of the moment:

"Remember that time that you did that thing that felt so good, and then I found ten dollars?"
-----------------------------------------------------------

You have to be very careful with how you use the phrase, it's not a toy or a really big muffin...I don't know what it is, but it's something. Because if you really do ever find ten dollars, and you've been misusing the phrase, no one will believe you or be impressed, and that would be a sad thing. Because actually finding ten dollars would be as impressive as a really big muffin, maybe even more so.

I don't know what I'm talking about, I'm losing my confidence in this post...I found ten dollars,
Bubba

feenxc,
There is a cartoon called the "Backyardigans". There is a character Tasha and another character Pablo on there. Probably where those names came from! It's a really cute cartoon. Probably my favorite on Nick Jr. It has great music and some humor that flies over kids heads but is funny to adults (nothing obscene or bad just more adult type stuff) You should try to watch it when you're keeping your grandkids. They'll thing you're too cool! LOL!

RDD-

What is going on? Not even an update in more than a week. It is a shame but I think I am done with this blog. I have been visiting it for many months now and it has become a let down instead of something I look forward to. I use to check it everday and it was fun but now I just become disappointed because there is never any thing here. I hope your well and maybe I'll "see ya" around the web.

don't know if i'm over stepping my bounds here, but i "talked" to (emailed) rdd earlier in the week. she will be back. she's been involved in something very close to her heart right now. anyone who has taken a little time to get to know her, even slightly, should know that she can get totally involved in things, actually a little obsessive compulsive at times. and i mean that in a good way. please be patient with her, she has thrown her heart into something and is probably going thru some pain right now. just like the rest of us, she has to deal with this in her own way.

to those of you who can't find it in your hearts to be patient and understanding, i don't have the words to describe my disappointment in you.

to the rest of you... kisshugs!

I've been out of town for the past few days, and just got home today. I was hoping against hope that Duckie would be back online, but it looks like she's still tied up.

Thanks for the wee update Feenxc, I'm glad to hear that she plans to return, and am sending positive thoughts her way. Hope everything works out for her. Meantime, I'm sure we can amuse ourselves.

I liked your topic, but alas, nothing funny has happened to me lately!

Of course those of us who have been here since the early days remember what it was like when Rance WUZ here: oh aye, great writing to be sure and DVPs and folks like Sass, Waxwing, JCanuck, Flyerchild and the Bard keeping things lively... and there were also servers crashing, crazy fan postings creating the need for Administrative review of posts, and so much sucking up by those who felt they were somehow connecting with a real (albeit anonymous and "in print") celebrity, that you could hear ass- chapping around the globe.
Aargh. THAT there was sycophancy.
--this is a new incarnation. Get used to it.
Duckie has gracefully moved the thing in a new direction, graciously catering to the true devotees of good writing who congregate here while fending off the worst of the crackpots who must plague her or anyone who tries to keep an internet site going.
Bravo.
and Thank you.

As to why anyone would post a rude "reminder" of how things "used to be" when the former occupant was in the house while the new occupant dwells within... I just don't know. But it puts me in mind of the sourpuss in the neighborhood who doesn't like the way new residents trim the hedges and paint the place in strikingly pleasing updated colors after they move in...
Can't take change and won't move away.
It may be that folks believe that if they complain about the state of things here, they might invoke Rance. Thinking maybe if they raise his ire, he will be sufficiently provoked as to return bearing overflowing jars of piss and vinegar, ready to rant away once more.
I wouldn't count on it.
In any case, it don't make much never mind to me.
I like the community here.
I admire the dedication it takes to support an interactive entertainment site AND have a semblance of real life.

Go, if you don't like it.
But go quietly. Your whinging disturbs the thinking beings here having a mature good time

At the risk of drawing the wrath of folks like Hpoonis once again on my wee
noggin, I'll throw my support to RDD, sycophantic as that may appear.
(Humph. I read that name "H. Poonis", and I say anyone whose last name starts with a "P" and ends in "N" "I" "S", SHOULD just spell it "D""I""C"K" anyway...)

Rubber Duckie: you come on back when you are ready. Let us know if there is anything we, as collective psuedonymity can do to help. In the mean time,
we'll keep the light on for you.

( By the by, In mine own tradition of working a metaphor harder than a three breasted whore, I have just done the equivalent of answering unasked the door of Duckie's house and finding a flaming paper bag on the porch. I should have left it to fizzle on its own, rather than stomping it out. Now I've got poo on my shoe and little hope of thank yous! :)

Well said, amuserato.

RDD, I know I wouldn't want the reposibility of trying to keep a community like this going. You've done a lovely job, and if you had to go and take an extended vacation in the middle of a spine tingling story... well, as the tv networks will tell ya, that's one way to keep your audience. I know I still tune in to my favorite shows ever fall after months of dreaded reruns.

feenxc- Kids are hilarious, aren't they? Especially when you can hand 'em back to their parents.

I know a family who's mother is currently pregnant with twins as a surrogate- I wondered how on earth you would possibly explain that to a child, especially one who has seen mommy preggers before and got a baby brother out of the deal.

But their 5 year old calmly explained it to me. "Mommy has babies in her tummy right now, but these ones aren't for us."
She, of course, has no idea that this might be unusual!
